It being aluminum, it draws the heat away very quickly to the rest of the tubing. I've never tried working with aluminum. But I've seen my dad braze it I think. Low heat torch tip on a propane torch.
 
The aluminum sticks I bought are actually square tubing so it melts very easy because the walls are so thin. They don't melt with my soldering iron.
I'm going to mess with soldering a couple scrap pieces tomorrow. I may not have cleaned the joint up enough to stick.
I'll buy some tin-silver or tin zinc tomorrow and mess with it.
I'm afraid I may have bit off more than I can chew on this one.
As you can see the bed is all bolted up because I used two part epoxy and then bolted it all together.
The headache rack is what is going to be tough.
I had some thin diamond plate. The thicker stuff I started with was rc4wd I believe. Like twice as thick.
 
Good lucking truck, I like it with the bed on that.
