So as the title suggests I think I've blown the front diff after a dozen or so runs. There is no grinding but a lot of drag up front that isn't present in the rear axle. I plan to pull it apart and see what's happening but am a bit disappointed to be having problems with so little time on it. Is there anything you would recommend if I do need to rebuild it? Stronger housing, stronger internals, or just any advice you would like to share.

Thanks!

Start digging into it. Check bearings as you go. I'm thinking maybe you blew a bearing(s), because even if you busted some internal gears in one of the diffs, the diffs should roll freely on the bearings inside the gearbox/axle housing. Taking things out of the equation like the motor (take pinion gear off) and axles (take axles out of the diff's outdrive cups), may help track down your drag as you turn things by hand.

So I finally dug into this diff. I pulled it out of the truck and it still had a lot of resistance to turning. I took it apart and don't see anything obvious. The bearings all turn smooth and the gears look ok. I’m tempted to just build a new diff, or at least upgrade to a billet housing but can’t find aftermarket support for the 1/10 Baja Rey 2.0, or V2 as I’ve found in some places. I’ve looked at Exotec, A Main Hobby’s, Horizon, and just a general google search. Can anybody point me in the direction of a stronger front diff for this thing?

Thanks!
